Dakar 2013:
Atacama Wüste (Chile) - Nordwest Argentinien - Zentral Chile
Die Dakar Ralley wurde im Jahr 1979 zum ersten mal durchgeführt und im Originalverlauf von Paris nach Dakar in Senegal/Afrika gefahren. Bald hatte sie sich als härteste Ralley der Welt etabliert und über die Jahre immer mehr Anhänger und Fans gefunden.
Leider mußte die Ralley im Jahr 2008 wegen ernsthaften Terrorismus Drohungen kurzfristig abgesagt werden worauf die Organisation beschloß die härteste Ralley der Welt versuchsweise nach Südamerkia zu verlegen.
Im Januar 2009 war es dann soweit und die Dakar wurde in Buenos Aires in Argentinien gestartet und führte über Patagonien nach Chile und über die Atacama Wüste wieder nach Argentinien zurück nach Buenos Aires.
Die Ralley war ein voller Erfolg! Nicht nur war sie extrem hart, sondern auch die spektakulären Landschaften und die Begeisterung der Bevölkerung, haben die Veranstalter veranlasst die Ralley 2010, 2011, 2012 und nun auch 2013 wieder in Südamerika zu veranstalten!

Day 1
Calama (Cl)
You will be picked up at the airport in Calama and brought to the Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama from where the tour starts next day. After an introduction to the bikes and the tour, you have the rest of the day at your free disposal.
Day 2
Calama - San Pedro de Atacama. Dakar Stage 6
Surroundings of San Pedro de Atacama (Laguna Chaxa, Valley of the Moon) and probably visit of the arrival of Dakar stage 6 close to Calama.
Approx. 300 km mainly tarmac.
Day 3
San Pedro - San Antonio (Arg). Dakar Stage 7
Visit of the stage 7 of the Dakar close to San Pedro de Atacama.
We leave the Dakar towards the south, bordering the mountain range spiked with vulkanoes that devides Chile from Argentina. We pass some beautiful lagoons and get to the border with Argentina before we ride on through bizarre mountain landscapes and open plains into the dusty town of San Antonio de los Cobres.
Approx. 400 km, 300 km of that on gravel.
Day 4
San Antonio - Cafayate
Today you've got a challenging trip: we cross the highest pass in Argentina, the 4895m high Abra El Acay! Snaking up the mountainside to the pass to enjoy the stunning views from 5 km above sea level before diving into the Calchaquí Valley, challenged by some river crossings and hairpin bends.
The afternoon ride takes us along the Calchaquí River, through narrow gorges and broad valleys. We snake through the rough landscapes of the "Valley of Arrows", the beauty of this remote valley almost tops the famous Quebrada de Cafayate.
Approx 320 km gravel.

Level of experience:
The trip is only suitable for experienced motor-bikers with some off-road experience. Long riding days will be normal on this tour. People having lung, heart or blood circulation problems should consult their doctor for the altitude.

Day 5
Cafayate - Tucuman
Today we carry on to the ancient ruins of Quilmes, ride up the "Small Hell Pass" and dive down into the lush and green valley of Tafí, a village beautifully built around a small lake.
We leave Tafí to El Mollar where we visit the Mehir Park before riding down through tropical cloud forests to the sugar cane fields of the lowlands of Tucuman.
Approx. 200 km of tarmac.
Day 6
Tucuman - Andalgala. Dakar Stage 9
After watching the beginning of stage 9 of the Dakar, we climb up the stunning gravel pass of Los Alisos to get to the sleepy town of Andalgala.
Approx 200 km.
Day 7
Andalgala - La Rioja. Dakar Stage 10
Through the desert landscapes of Catamarca, we ride south to the wine and olive producing area of La Rioja. We'll probably be able to watch the arrival of stage 10 if the Dakar.

Day 8
La Rioja - Fiambala. Dakar Stage 11
Visit of Dakar stage 11. Depending how the itinerary of the Dakar goes, we'll watch the beginning or ending of todays stage (or both).

Day 9
Fiambala - Copiapo. Dakar Stage 12
It will take us all day to cross and enjoy the ride over the stunning pass "Paso de San Franzisco". With over 4600 m altitude it is one of the highest passes in the world! Possibly visit of Dakar stage 12
Approx. 500 km tar and gravel.
Day 10
Copiapo - La Serena. Dakar Stage 13
Still in the Atacama Desert, this will surely be a challenging day for the Dakar racers. We will visit the Dakar stage 13 and carry on to La Serena Area where we spend the night.
Approx 400 km.
Day 11
La Serena - Santiago de Chile. Dakar Stage 14
We will visit the last stage of the race to live from close by the finishing of the hardest off road race in the world.
Approx. 500 km
Day 12
Santiago. Finish of Dakar 2013
The day is free to enjoy the city of Santiago and/or to witness the finish ceremony of the Dakar 2013
Day 13
We will bring you to the airport to catch your flight. You will take awesome impressions, great memories and a Horizonte present with you on your way back home.
The Tour Operator reserves himself the right to change the itinerary. As the Organization of the Dakar comes out with some late changes, the itinerary is due to changes at any time.
